Tony LaRussa Goes Out Of Top After 33 Seasons
October 31st 2011 14:51
Tony LaRussa is a smart man and he knows when it is time to walk away from baseball on top. LaRussa is announcing that he is retiring as manager of the St. Louis Cardinals. He managed the St. Louis Cardinals for 16 season claiming two World Series title. He has managed over 30 seasons and La Russa's 2,728 regular-season victories over 33 seasons as a manager rank third on the career list behind Connie Mack (3,731) and John McGraw (2,763).
He does leave on top and that is how everyone would like to go. The Cardinals have plenty of talent, so they should be fine. Most people never give LaRussa that credit he deserves. They seem to be quick to get on him for a mistake, but not much credit. He has a great baseball mind and will be missed by the Cardinals. For LaRussa there is really not much more he could do in baseball and going out on top is always the best way to go anyways.
