Monday Baseball Wrap Up
May 20th 2008 13:19
Red Sox 7 – Royals 0
The story of the day was definitely that Jon Lester threw a no-hitter against the Kansas City Royals. Lester gave up just two walks in what was also his first complete game ever. He also struck out nine along the way. Jason Varitek caught the game and is now the only person to ever catch four no-hitters. Lester is a great story of strength, and recovery. He missed the end of the 2006 season when he was diagnosed with a rare form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Now less than two years later he comes two walks away from a perfect game.

The Cubs have won 9 of their last eleven and are now eleven games over .500.Ted Lilly went 5-1/3 innings and got his fourth straight win. Jim Edmonds showed he can still play centerfield with a great catch while running up the hill in center to rob Hunter Pence of an extra base hit. Lance Berkman (17 games) and Hunter Pence (16 games) both had their hitting streaks end by going 0-for-4.
