Did you hear the one about. . .
Did you hear the one about the baseball player who has a fractured testicle? Yes, I said a fractured testicle!
The Arizona Diamondbacks placed catcher Chris Snyder on the 15-day disabled list for a fractured testicle. He was scheduled to undergo surgery to repair it on Wednesday. In the fourth inning of their game on Monday against the Milwaukee Brewers, a foul ball off the bat of Corey Hart flew back and hit Snyder in a very bad way. For more on just how one "fractures" a testicle, here is a link to an article on eMedicine.com
D-backs manager Bob Melvin said they expect Snyder to only need about two weeks to recover from the injury and surgery. He is expected back soon after the All-Star Break for their series against the Dodgers.
The team also placed outfielder Eric Byrnes back on the DL with a strained hamstring. They expect him to need more than the initial 15 days to recover from his injury.
They called up pitcher Connor Robertson and catcher Robby Hammock from Triple-A Tuscon to take their spots on the roster. Hammock was ready to play when he arrived on Tuesday. Robertson is expected to start in the D-backs game against the Brew Crew on Thursday.
By the way, I know you are wondering, so. . . it is the left one!
